How to Freeze Pineapple Juice
Pineapple juice is about as easy to freeze as possible! There is very little preparation needed, and we even have a couple of different methods to try to see what works best for you.
How to Freeze Large Portions of Pineapple Juice
If you know you need to have larger portions of pineapple juice for cooking or drink, this is the method for you. You will need some suitable freezer-safe containers that can hold liquid without it spilling.
- Grab Containers
Grab your containers. Make sure they have lids that seal tightly. If you have freezer-safe bottles, this works well too. We wouldn’t recommend that you use freezer bags unless you have no other choice. - Portion Out
Pour the pineapple juice into the containers. Make sure you leave a good inch or two gap at the top of each container. The pineapple juice will expand when it freezes, and if you don’t leave this gap, the juice may burst out of the containers and make a mess in the freezer. - Seal
Seal the containers tightly. This protects your freezer from spills, but it also helps keep the pineapple juice airtight and protected in the freezer. - Freeze
Label it with the date and contents and pop the containers into the freezer.
How to Freeze Pineapple Juice Ice Cubes
Pineapple juice ice cubes are a convenient and versatile thing to have available in the freezer.
You can add some to smoothies or juices, pop them into curries and tropical dishes, and you can even pop an ice cube into a glass of water instead of an ice cube to keep your drink cool and add a touch of tropical flavour.
- Portion into Ice Cubes
Grab some ice cubes and pour a little pineapple juice into each section. Make sure you leave a gap at the top of each section to allow the pineapple juice to expand as it freezes. - Flash Freeze
Put the ice cube trays carefully into the freezer. You need to keep them flat until the juice has frozen. Keep the pineapple juice in the freezer for two to three hours. - Bag Up
Once you are sure the pineapple juice is completely frozen, you can take the ice cube trays out of the freezer. Transfer the pineapple ice cubes from the trays into a freezer bag. - Seal
Squeeze out the air from the bag and seal it tightly. - Freeze
Label the bag with the date and name of the ice cubes and pop it into the freezer.
How to Freeze Pineapple Ice Lollies
Pineapple juice makes a lovely refreshing ice lolly to enjoy in warmer weather, and it’s easy to do. You can either buy moulds or use the method below using silicone muffin trays and lolly sticks.
- Portion Out
Pour pineapple juice into your chosen silicone tray. Muffin trays work well, but you can choose any size or shape mould you like. Make sure you leave a little gap because the pineapple juice will expand. - Freeze
Pop the trays into the freezer. Keep them flat. - Check Every 30 Minutes
Check the ice lollies every thirty minutes. You need the pineapple juice to be starting to freeze solid but still soft enough for you to pop the lolly sticks into them. - Push in a Lolly Stick
Once the pineapple juice is the right consistency, push a lolly stick into the middle of each lolly and put it back into the freezer to freeze fully. - Bag Up
After they have frozen, you can transfer them out of the silicone moulds and put them into a freezer bag. Label it with the date and contents and put them back into the freezer.
